this be? later senator dianne feinstein release as gun control plan which will require a registry and fingerprints. does the proposed legislation go too far? we will debate it when the factor continues. >> in the impact segment tonight, you may remember that falling the attacks in benghazi, libya, four statement department workers supposedly lost their jobs. however, there are now reports that they may just be switching desks and that the four are still getting paid by the government. this is unbelievable. the american people should be outraged at this because it is is pathetic. it's disgraceful. it is purposefully misleading it is a ruse, smoke and mirrors. this is so wrong for the state department to do. what did they do? well, it's just one more lie in a web of lies dealing with the terrorist attack and the consulate in benghazi, libya. >> greg: dig that color. with us is lt. colonel ralph peters. is this what you call failing horizontally. >> no, it's called aspirational failure. only a washington program for federal bureau democrats and senior army marine navy air force gener

't worked. dianne feinstein had her ban and columbine occurred. >> a moment ago you were talking about guns in school, and you said something that made me think that that's something you would agree w.where do you stand on that? >> i don't agree with it. i think the republicans talk about it now. they are going to use that as a way to get around the issue, and the issue is high capacity magazines, and -- and assault weapons. i think david gregory did a magnificent job with the vice president of the nra this morning, and when he says -- he said that he doesn't think the magazine issue has anything to do with it, well, it does. lanza got the guns that his mother had in the house, and he would have taken whatever guns she, and if he had a gun without a high capacity magazine that couldn't shoot more than ten shots, that's all the shots he would have gotten off. he didn't go to the stove and pick his arsenal. he took what his mother gave him. if you had less of those weapons around you'd have more children alive. no matter what mr. lapierre said some of those children died because of the magazi

laws. dianne feinstein is leading the charge. >> what do you say to people who support the right to own arms that this is the camel's nose under the tent and the next thing you will be after concealed carry weapons. you will be after other kinds of gun rights? >> well, that's just not true. it wasn't true with the prior bill that was the law for 10 years. and i just think candidly that dog doesn't hunt. >> why shouldn't it be true? why wouldn't you want to go after those other laws? >> because that's not what i have done in the past and it's not what i'm doing right now. >> greg: however, senator feinstein's proposed legislation calls for fingerprinting thousands of gun owners as well as banning the sale of more than 100 types of guns. joining us from washington larry pratt the executive director of gun owners of america. i wonder how he feels about. this in studio alexus magill jonsz executive director of the values institute progressive group. i bet you think this law is a great idea. >> oh, indeed. even though we have had a declining murder rate in the united states and even though o

questions next week. >> next, democratic senators dianne feinstein and richard blumenthal respond to and criticize the nra's remarks. the senators also take questions from reporters. from capitol hill, this is 25 minutes. >> good afternoon. i am here with the senior senator from connecticut. we would like to make a few remarks and response to the national rifle association press conference this morning. this morning the nra said that they wanted to have a conversation about security. i would like to respond to that call. if school districts want to hire armed security guards, i support that. that is a decision each school district should make. many school districts already have armed guards. 28,300 public schools, that is about one-third of all public schools have armed security staff. in fact, there were two are in the law enforcement officers who twice engaged the shooters at columbine. that did not prevent 15 from being killed and 23 wounded. copies of the investigative transcript with exactly what happened is a available at the back of the room. the blanket call to arms school

're seeing dianne feinstein there on the senate floor. it is vacant on the house side. so in truth how much is really going to get done? >> well, gregg, a lot of this negotiations are really taking place between the leadership levels right now. we don't really have to worry about what is happening on the house floor. it's about what is going on at the white house. now, the president today is going to meet with congressional leaders from both parties, both chambers. they will sit down. they will talk about a potential deal. the president might offer something that maybe the republicans could go for. it wouldn't be a sweeping deal. gregg: like what? >> might be something smaller. well, it would be something that could potentially avoid the major tax hikes coming in january. that is the most politically treacherous for these members. they need to find a way to stop taxes going up for everybody. if there is a deal it will probably focus on the range of taxes that are coming. gregg: susan, the house passed a bill that extends all the tax cuts. the senate passed a bill that extends it for everybo
